Vale Private Dudley Roberts (1923–2025) Farmer. Soldier. Settler. South Australia’s last surviving member of the 2/27th Infantry Battalion passed away on 10 October 2025, aged 102. He fought in New Guinea with a battalion rebuilt from the survivors of Syria, Kokoda, and Buna-Gona. After the war, Dudley returned to Kangaroo Island to clear the land by hand, build a farm, raise five children, and help establish Parndana.
