These are WILD hyenas! 😳 Feeding wild hyenas in Harar is one of the most thrilling things to do in Ethiopia ! 🙌🏽 The hyenas freely roam the area, and the local Harari people have embraced them as part of their lifestyle. Hyenas also come into the city occasionally, mostly during the night time. Butcher shops will leave them the leftovers and bones in the streets and hyenas happily come clean it all up. This is special! In the old town of Harar you can find a compound dedicated to Turkey! Turns out this beautiful Turkish-themed building in the streets of Harar, Ethiopia was the first Ottoman Empire embassy built outside of Turkey! It was constructed around 100 years ago due to the growing Turkish presence in the area. Now it functions as a museum where you can discover ancient Arabic books and manuscripts. Interesting find!
